You might kick yourself for not noticing this! It turns out, ‘American Horror Story’ laid out a very specific clue last season to hint that Lady Gaga would be starring in the future installment!
Fans of American Horror Story are still reeling from the major news that Lady Gaga will be starring in the upcoming season, titled Hotel. However, the pop superstar’s involvement with the show was actually revealed months ago. In fact, during the Oct. 28 episode of American Horror Story: Freak Show, there was a hidden clue that probably even the most serious AHS fans didn’t pick up on! That sneaky Ryan Murphy!
On the Oct. 29 episode of Freak Show, eagle-eyed viewers may have noticed a scene featuring a paper cup. However, it’s what was on the cup that matters: a big top-hat logo.
Here’s where things got really insidery. The song “Cheek to Cheek” was originally written for the film Top Hat, in 1935. Of course, “Cheek to Cheek” is also the title of Lady Gaga’s current album of duets with Tony Bennett. (Also of note, Top Hat was set in a hotel, which we now know was also a clue about this season’s current theme.)
‘It’s Very Purposeful’
Ryan warned audiences back in October that the cup had a huge significance. “That is a big season 5 clue!” he told Entertainment Weekly. “It’s an arcane clue, but it’s very purposeful, and it illuminates something that you’ll be like, ‘Oh! You dirty bastard!’”
Um, you kinda took the words right outta our mouths, Ryan!
While there’s still no word as to who or what Gaga will play on the series, the role will definitely have an enormous amount of thought put into it. EW also confirmed that Ryan and Gaga had been speaking about her involvement in the show since the fall, and Gaga officially signed on board once the right role had been crafted for her.
Okay, we are fully unable to stand the anticipation for the new season!
